What is a maven?

Maven (mey-vuh’n), n. – an expert or professional in a particular field

Who are we?

We just five friends who love movies and want to share them. Okay, okay -- we're obviously not mavens, but we strive to learn more about the art of film. Take a minute to get acquainted with us below:

Nolan was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. He is currently an associate at the Racine Olson law firm in Pocatello. He completed his undergrad at Boise State in 2009 and received his law degree from the University of Idaho in 2012.  When not watching movies, Nolan enjoys disc golf, tennis, reading, poker, and watching professional sports.

Jared was born in San Diego, California and grew up mostly in Pocatello, Idaho. He works at a local cabinet and woodworking shop while attending school at Idaho State University. Jared also enjoys reading, music, and disc golf.

 

DJ is a senior in a Health Care Administration program and plans to obtain a MBA. He is happily married, and he and his wife are proud parents of their son, Bradley. Besides watching good movies, DJ enjoys playing sports (golf in particular), watching ESPN, and hanging out with friends.

Derek grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and currently lives in Logan, Utah. He graduated from Utah State University in 2012 with a degree in political science while minoring in history and international studies. He works as a cook at a residential treatment center.

Brennan was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho.  He currently lives in Salt Lake City, where he is a senior at the University of Utah and will be graduating with a degree in economics this year.  He works as a sous chef at Harmon's grocery store and interns at the Office of Diversity and Human Rights at the Salt Lake City and County Building. Some of his favorite directors are Terrence Malick, Akira Kurosawa, and the Coen brothers.
